EXIF Viewer

See the hidden camera data inside any JPEG photo

or drag & drop a .jpg / .jpeg file here (max 50MB)

Parsed 100% in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Reads the standard EXIF fields recorded by cameras and phones: make, model, capture date, orientation, exposure, aperture, ISO and pixel dimensions.

About this tool

Every photo your camera takes carries a hidden diary: which camera shot it, the exact date and time, shutter speed, aperture, ISO and even which way you held the phone. Our EXIF viewer extracts that story with a purpose-built parser that reads the JPEG's APP1 segment and decodes the TIFF metadata inside, camera make and model, DateTimeOriginal, orientation, exposure time, f-number, ISO speed and pixel dimensions.

Because the parser is hand-written and runs 100% in your browser, there's no server round-trip and no file-size anxiety, only the first few megabytes of the file are read, since EXIF always lives at the start of a JPEG. It handles both little-endian and big-endian files and degrades gracefully: malformed metadata simply shows the friendly “no EXIF found” message instead of an error.

How to use the exif viewer

  1. 1Click “Choose JPEG” and select a .jpg or .jpeg photo from your device.
  2. 2Wait a moment while the metadata is parsed in your browser.
  3. 3Read the camera make, model, capture date, exposure, aperture, ISO and more in the table.
  4. 4If no metadata is found, the tool will tell you, many apps strip EXIF data.

Good to know

EXIF data is also a privacy reminder: photos straight from your phone can reveal when and where they were taken, which is why messaging apps strip it on send. Use this viewer to check what your camera recorded, and to confirm your metadata is gone before sharing sensitive photos publicly.

Frequently asked questions

EXIF is metadata your camera or phone embeds in every JPEG: the camera make and model, when the photo was taken, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, orientation and pixel dimensions. Our viewer reads all of these straight from the file.
